Dr Beryl Tan

Patient-centred care is my priority.

Dr Beryl Tan is a female plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Melbourne, Australia.

Dr Beryl Tan has helped many people improve their daily lives with aesthetic enhancements that often also bring functional improvement to their quality of life. However, her professional approach to all procedures encompasses much more than just the exterior.

Dr Tan’s focus is placed on a positive body image, be it with or without surgery. She achieves this by paying attention to patient needs with care and empathy. Through a lens of compassion and with a holistic approach, your overall wellness journey is considered to ensure that the proposed procedure will help achieve your goals.

With this in mind, it is important to consider that not everyone is a suitable candidate for surgery due to health factors or mental and emotional state. This is where Dr Tan’s skills and experience are invaluable. You can trust that she will deliver honest feedback and recommendations to help you reach the best outcome.

Dr Tan ensures that all patients are well informed, including all associated risks, with plenty of time to consider the procedure before deciding. It is important to Dr Tan that a mutual understanding of the desired goal is understood so a partnership can be created. This not only optimises the healing process but also ensures the best outcome for you.

  • Liposuction
If you still have skin with good elasticity, the underlying fat is removed using a a suction cannula ranging from 3-5mm. It is the main surgical tool to treat lipoedema.
  • Body contouring (abdominoplasty, fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty, body lift)
Losing a lot of weight is often the beginning of a long journey of lifestyle modifications to help maintain the weight loss. On top of that, they have to deal with excess overhanging skin at the abdomen, arms and thighs. Many also benefit from breast lift with or without augmentation. Beware that preoperative preparation and after surgery care are both very important as the risk of complications can be as high as 30%! Find out more.

Excess vulva skin can cause significant discomfort due to chaffing. Removal of the skin is sometimes necessary.

The breasts

  • Breast Reduction
Reduction in breast volume and weight can rectify a sore back, neck and shoulders as the result of large breasts. The surgery also involves breast lift and reshaping.
  • Breast Augmentation
Breast enlargement can be performed using implants or fat grafting, or both. Implant provides projection. Fat does not.
  • Breast Lift
Breast lift or mastopexy involves moving the nipple higher, and rearrangement and reshaping of the breast.
  • Breast Augmentation Mastopexy
Combination of breast lift and insertion of implant. The former is required when the nipple sits low on the breast.
  • Breast Implant Removal
Both with or without exchange of an implant, with capsulectomy (removal of the breast capsule, the scar tissue that encapsulate the implant). From dealing with breast implant illness (BII) to leaking silicone, or a simple change of mind.
  • Breast Reconstruction
Breast cancer creates a long journey of treatment and recovery. However, the rebuilding of breasts can help prevent loss of the sense of femininity and improve confidence. Those with tuberous breasts or breast hypoplasia can also benefit from having better symmetry of both breasts, achieving a sense of normalcy.
